Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. A child of Irish heritage, and surrounded as her by talented parents and family did this naturally. Maureen made her entrance into the safe haven of her parents on the 17th of August 1920 at Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was an athletic natural and was a fan of tough sporting games. Her natural ability to perform was the perfect match for her passion for sports. As evidenced by getting almost every Feis award for drama or performances in the theater that her nation offered. By age 14 she was admitted to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre as well as operatic vocals.
